Full Stack developer

The São Paulo Research and Analysis Center (SPRACE, http://www.sprace.org.br) is opening a position of Full Stack Developer for an outstanding professional to work together with our team of researchers at Computer Science and Engineering.

This developer will be coordinated by NCC/Unesp team on the OpenFlow controller research and development taskforce. The main activities involve studying and modifying current OpenFlow controller's code as well as working on new architectures for SDN development. The developer will also be in charge of studying, evaluating and building benchmarks for the most popular controllers.

The project aims to build a client-server SDN based application. In that context, he/she will be responsible for managing the interchange of data between the systems and the users with a primary focus on developing all server-side logic, definition and maintenance of the central database, and ensuring high performance and responsiveness to requests from the front-end. He/She will also be responsible for integrating the front-end elements built into the application. A basic understanding of front-end technologies is therefore necessary as well.

Responsibilities, skills and qualifications

  • Strong knowledge in data structures;
  • Master's degree in CS/Related areas or at least five years’ relevant experience; or Ph.D. degree in CS/Related areas;
  • Desirable experience on the development of Network Protocols (OpenFlow);
  • Proficient understanding of code versioning tools, such as Git / SVN;
  • Preferable fluent languages: C/C++ and Python;
  • Ability to write quality unit tests;
  • Understanding of repeatable automated processes for building the application, testing it, documenting it, and deploying it at scale;
  • Integration of user-facing elements developed by a front-end developer with server side logic;
  • Building reusable code and libraries for future use;
  • Optimization of the application for maximum speed and scalability;
  • Implementation of security and data protection;
  • Design and implementation of data storage solutions;
  • User authentication and authorization between multiple systems, servers, and environments;
  • Fluent English is a strong requirement

Appointment Details

These appointments are initially for 3 (three) months (probation period). The total duration of the appointment is of 1 year that can be renewed for another year.

The income will depend on the qualification and previous experience of the candidate and the amount of his/her time that will be dedicated to the project.

Frontend developer/designer

The São Paulo Research and Analysis Center (SPRACE, http://www.sprace.org.br) is opening a position of Frontend developer/designer for an outstanding professional to work together with our team of researchers at Computer Science and Engineering.

The person occupying this position will be coordinated by NCC/Unesp team working on the OpenFlow controller research and development taskforce. The OpenFlow controller development team will build a set of tools that are intended to be publicly available to the community. Thus, the presentation of these software is very important. With that in mind, this developer will be mainly responsible for designing and building all front end customizations and interfaces throughout the project.

Responsibilities, skills and qualifications

  • More than 5 years in frontend development/design;
  • Strong knowledge of modern web 2.0 technologies (HTML 5.0, CSS3, etc…);
  • Basic understanding of server-side CSS pre-processing platforms, such as LESS and SASS;
  • Proficient understanding of client-side scripting and JavaScript frameworks, including jQuery, nodejs, etc…;
  • Good understanding of asynchronous request handling, partial page updates, and AJAX;
  • Proficient understanding of cross-browser compatibility issues and ways to work around them;
  • Proficient understanding of code versioning tools, such as Git / SVN;
  • Python development is a plus;
  • Fluent English is a strong requirement
